Tour “from ancientry with love”

Tour Program:

Day 1.  We will meet our guests at Tbilisi airport and transfer them to their hotel. If all guests will arriver before 4 p.m.,    we will have loop tour through beautiful and ancient Tbilisi ; we will walk through streets of old city  and will enjoy landmark of the city – its cobweb balconies, we will feel flair and irresistible attraction of Georgia’ capital.

Day 2.  We will see two great Georgian relic – city of Mtsheta, Jhvary Monastery and Ananury castle.

Mtskheta city.

Mtskheta city is considered to be the most ancient city of Georgia, which was set up 5 century BC. The main relic of this place is   the The Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (literally the Cathedral of the Living Pillar) is an Orthodox Christian cathedral. It is the biggest historical building which remain in Georgia.   .

Known as the burial site of the claimed Christ’s mantle, Svetitskhoveli has long been one of the principal Georgian Orthodox churches and is among the most venerated places of worship in the region. Throughout the centuries, the cathedral served as the burial place for kings. Svetitskhoveli is considered an endangered cultural landmark. The original church was built in 4th century A.D. during the reign of Mirian III of Kartli (Iberia). St. Nino is said to have chosen the confluence of the Mtkvari (Kura) and Aragvi rivers as the place of the first Georgian Church. In Georgian sveti means «pillar» and tskhoveli means «life-giving» or «living», hence the name of the cathedral

Jvari Monastery 

Jvari Monastery is a sixth-century Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta, eastern Georgia. Along with other historic structures of Mtskheta, it is listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Jvari Monastery stands on the rocky mountaintop at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, overlooking the town of Mtskheta and this seems to be the most popular view of Georgia.

Ananuri castle

Ananuri castle which is located on the Aragvi River in Georgia, about   72 kilometres from Tbilisi. Ananuri was a castle and seat of the eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi, a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century. The castle was the scene of numerous battles. The exciting view on rivers flow nearby the castle will impress everyone.


Day 3. We will visit wine granary of Georgia – Kahetia region, where we will visit City of Love called Signaghi, Bodbe Monastry and one of the most popular Georgian winery.

SIgnaghi — City of Love. The most popular version why this charming  city is called like this is the story of  great Georgian painter Niko Pirosmani who was in love with his neighbor – beautiful actress. One day he took all money he got agter he sold out all his paintings and bought all roses he managed to find in Signahi. But there are some other versions, not so romantic, which we will listen enjoying wonderful view of Alazan valley from the highest places of town. Bodby Monastry is nunnery located 2 km far from Signaghi. Saint Nino   relics are shrined there, who passed  away there in year 34. She was 67 and 35 years of her life she dedicated to apostolic heroism.  On our way  back to Tbilisi we will visit famous winery where we will listen how to produce so famous Georgina wine and, for sure, will try some.

Day 4. Rabat  Castle and Green Monastery. We wil go to Mesheti  region to visit Akhaltsikhe fortress Rabat, XVI-XVIII centuries and which was recently globally reconstructed.  In May 2011, the reconstruction of the Rabati fortress began, which was accompanied by the restoration and completion of many buildings that were destroyed in time immemorial. For this purpose, the Government of Georgia allocated 34 million lari from the state budget. As part of the project, the Akhmediye Mosque, the mosque minaret, the madrasah, the Jakeli castle, baths, the citadel, the walls of the fortress and the Orthodox Church were updated on the territory of the fortress. The tunnel leading to the Potskhovi River was also restored. As part of the project, two main streets of the fortress were repaired, a pavement was equipped, and the facades and roofs of buildings were restored.

After Rabat, we will visit so called Green Monastery. The Chitakhevi church of Saint   is a medieval church in Georgia, located in the country’s south-central Borjomi valley in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. It is popularly known as Mtsvane Monastery   that is, the Green Monastery. Abandoned for more than two hundred years, the monastery was restored to Christian use in 2003. It is a popular site of tourism and pilgrimage. The monastic church and bell-tower are inscribed on the list of the Immovable Cultural Monuments of National Significance of Georgia.
